Essential Pediatrics is Massachusetts’ first full-service, membership-based (direct-pay) pediatric practice. Our unique model allows us to limit our patient panels to 300 children per doctor (15-20% of a standard pediatrics practice) with simple, transparent pricing.
Small patient panels mean more time for in-depth consultations, customized treatment plans and a focus on your child’s unique health needs.

Your membership includes convenient communication and time savings through direct, personal communication with your physician by cell, text, email or telemedicine. Essential Pediatrics will be available to respond to your child’s medical needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our patient panels are limited to ~300 for each doctor (15-20% of a traditional practice) to ensure we always have time to provide the very best care possible for our families.

Monthly membership fee:
$500 per month for one child to join the practice
$450 per month per child for families with two children in the practice (10% discount)
$400 per month per child for families with three or more children in the practice (20% discount)
Yes! We validate parking for our families at our attached garage, which is located on Beacon Street between Washington and Pearl. There is also ample free street parking in the neighborhood on Pearl Street.
We do not bill insurance for our services; however, you will need insurance to cover medical care outside of our offices for things like specialist visits, outside labs, and hospitalizations.
Yes! We welcome families of all sizes and offer discounts for larger families.

Effective January 1, 2026 the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (H.R. I) and section 71308 of that law allows the use of Health Saving Accounts (HSA) dollars to pay for Direct Primary Care membership fees up to a cap of $150/month for individual coverage and $300/month for family coverage subject to certain restrictions.

Yes! We can support your children while they are away at college, even if it is out of state. You and your child can access us via telemedicine, phone calls, texts, and emails. If needed, we will work with local healthcare providers to ensure your child is well cared for, both close to and far away from home. We know this time of transition can be nerve-racking for caregivers and young adults alike. We will be there for you and your child every step of the way to provide consistency in your child’s healthcare during this exciting time.
Absolutely! We are here to support your family, no matter where your travels may take you. You can access us via telemedicine, phone calls, texts, and emails. If your child needs to be seen by a local pediatrician while traveling, we will be there to help guide you in this process and follow up with you to ensure your vacation is as stress-free as possible.
